چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: Vaccination is one of the best strategies to reduce the risk of intrauterine viral transmission and ward off linked infections. The Coronavirus Disease ۲۰۱۹ (COVID-۱۹) pandemic which is caused by a new strain of coronaviruses is currently known as a threat to the health of COVID-۱۹-exposed pregnant women and newborn infants. However, this strategy may have undesirable side effects at the duration time of pregnancy which may manifest as psychiatric disorders for mothers and congenital infections for neonates, for instance. This study aimed to review the impact of COVID-۱۹ vaccination on pregnancy.Search Method: In this study, a comprehensive search was conducted and four scientific databases (PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, and Google Scholar) were reviewed from ۲۰۱۸ to ۲۰۲۱. The keywords were “COVID-۱۹”, “pregnancy”, and “vaccination”. In total ۱۵۶۳۹ studies were found, ۲۸ articles were selected and studied. Results: Although the impact of COVID-۱۹ vaccination on pregnancy due to not routine inclusion of pregnant women in clinical trials remains to be well determined, the results of the current vaccination programs have been released later than the public due to logical reasons. Most of the studies were observational, investigating the effectiveness, short- and long-term health effects of vaccination. Although the vaccine effectiveness is an essential parameter, the safety must be assessed as well and approved to all in particular pregnant women and their unborn infants to be welcomed by the public. In this regard, both individual and social factors affect the acceptance of vaccination in maternal immunization programs. In addition to age, the level of education and social welfare that are directly related to the acceptance of the vaccine determines, the family and community to which one belongs, and the geographical area play an important role in this acceptance. The current licensed vaccines have been authorized to administer during pregnancy with no statistical safety concerns. Conclusion: The results of our study highlight the importance of vaccination as a means of protection against infectious diseases and thereby reduce the risk of adverse birth outcomes. However, further investigation is needed to provide more information on the safety of COVID-۱۹ vaccines in the same population.
