Investigating the views of Tehran residents regarding the role of public transportation in the prevalence of Covid ۱۹

Background and Objective: COVID-۱۹ virus is of great importance due to its rapid transmission rate and high risk of mortality. The virus spreads directly or indirectly throughinfected people or objects in the environment and makes people sick. This study aimed to investigate the viewpoints of Tehran residents about the role of public transport in a covid-۱۹ outbreak ۲۰۲۱.Materials and Methods: This study was a cross-sectional descriptive study. The instrument used in this study was a researcher-made questionnaire consisting of ۱۳ questions. The questionnaire was shared electronically via WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, etc during the two months and among the residents of Tehran. During this time period, ۱۲۳ questionnaires completed and returned uestions. SPSS software version ۲۵ and Excel was used for data analysis. Ethical considerations were observed in all stages of the study.Results: The result showed that the most participants were female (۵۴.۵%) and administrative staff (%۵۲). ۷۸.۹% of the participants used public transportation. From participant’s viewpoint Taxi (۴۷%) and, BRT & Metro lines (۳۴%), play a significant role in the prevalence of COVID ۱۹, respectively. There was also a significant difference between the opinion of public transport users (۸۹.۸%) and those who did not use public transport (۹۸.۶%) regarding the role of these vehicles in the release of COVID ۱۹ (Pvalue=۰.۰۳).Conclusion: According to the results of the study, it was observed that most of the participants considered the role of public transport in the prevalence of COVID ۱۹ to be significant. Therefore, the development of a public transport fleet is recommended to reduce the density of users and instill a greater sense of safety. Therefore, according to the current situation in the metropolis of Tehran, it should be possible to minimize the problem of congestion in public transportation. To accurately estimate the viewpoints of Tehran city residents about this issue, it is suggested that the sample size be multiplied to perform a more accurate analysis.
