Relationship the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders With body mass index in car repairmen

Proper posture is an important and effective factor in assessing the health of individuals and any change in the posture of individuals causes disorders in the body. Therefore, maintaining posture in inappropriate working conditions and with a long time leads to the occurrence of musculoskeletal disorders in the body.Therefore, the aim of the present study was to investigate the relationship between musculoskeletal disorders and body mass index in car repairmen.In this study, ۶۰ car repairmen, from Tehran and Alborz provinces who had at least more than ۱ year of experience and were evaluated with full satisfaction. The Nordic questionnaire was used to determine the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders and the meter was used to measure height, and the scales were used to measure weight. The collected data were analyzed by SPSS ۲۲ and the significance level is P≤۰.۰۵.The results showed that musculoskeletal disorders in the lumbar area (۵۶.۷%), upper back and knee (۳۶.۷%) are the most common disorders and the lowest disorders are related to the ankle (۱۱.۷%) in car repairmen. A significant relationship was found between body mass index and musculoskeletal disorders.The results of the study show that increasing working hours, type of work activity, especially standing and sitting constantly, unProper posture while working and increasing body mass index are the factors affecting the rate of musculoskeletal disorders in car repairmen. Therefore, familiarity with the principles of ergonomics, prevention techniques and corrective exercises along with training and informing car repairmen to improve working conditions seems necessary.
