چکیده مقاله:
Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder due to the depletion of dopamine in the basal ganglia, with progressive reduction in the speed and amplitude of movements. Gait disturbances are among the most disabling features of PD. The gait of patients with PD is typically marked by reduced speed, shortened stride length, and longer double support phase. The purpose of this study was to evaluation effect of PILATES exercise on spatiotemporal parameters of gait in patients with PD. The ۱۱ patients with PD male with an average age of ۶۸.۷±۲.۶ yr, the height of ۱۶۵.۵±۳.۶ cm and weight ۶۵.۱±۴.۳ kg participated in this study. Characterize patients with PD were measured from the Hoehn and Yahr (H& Y) modified scale. The patients with PD participated in PILATES exercise for ten weeks, three sessions per week and one hour per session. Spatiotemporal parameters of gait were assessed with a four camera video-based system (۱۲۰ Hz). The Eight reflective markers were bilaterally attached to the skin surface on anatomic points. Gait was assessed by meters walked during a ۶-minute walking test. Measurements were performed at the start and at the end of the PILATES exercise. The paired sample T-test was used to compare the differences between the pre and post-test. Significant difference found between pre and post of subjects in all variables (Speed, Cadence, Stride length, Stride cycle). According to the results of the present research, it could be concluded that for improvement of gait in patients with PD, the PILATES exercise is recommended.
