چکیده مقاله:

Scoliosis is a spinal deformity consisting of lateral curvature and rotation of the vertebrae. The causes of scoliosis vary and are classified broadly as congenital, neuromuscular, syndrome-related, idiopathic and spinal curvature due to secondary reasons. The majority of scoliosis cases encountered by the general practitioner will be idiopathic. Nonstructural Scoliosis is the result of poor posture and muscle imbalance in the body .The main aim of this study is illustrated the effectiveness of schroth exercises on spinal alignment, position and flexibility of the scapulae and enhance quality of life in students with nonstructural scoliosis. The experimental intervention consisted of an ۸-week corrective exercises (۴۵-۵۰ min/day, ۳ times per week) while the control group keep their normal daily activity.۳۰ female students with nonstructural scoliosis were objectively assigned to the experimental group(n=۱۵).photogrammetry for scoliosis angle, symmetry of acromion process in both shoulders, goniometer to assess lateral rotation of right shoulder, tape meter to address the space between lower angle of the right scapula and spinous process, questionnaire to assess quality of life.Research data were analyzed using statistical methods (Repeated measure analysis of variance within and between subjects designs)research data were analyzed using independent t- test and paired t-test between pre and posttest groups. Results of paired t-test after eight weeks of schroth training showed a significant difference in the lateral curvature of the spine. Posterior surface symmetry indices showed the degree of external rotation of the glenohumeral joint, flexibility of scapulae and quality of life (p<۰.۰۵).schroth exercises had effectiveness on spinal alignment in students with nonstructural scoliosis and this improvement is the result of better body balance and functional muscle balance in upper body and especially posterior muscles in the upper back.
