The Effect of COVID-۱۹ Pandemic on Physical function, Quality of life and Balance of Women with knee Osteoarthritis with Knee Instability

Knee instability(KI) is a common feature of age-related osteoarthritis, which has been reported in more than ۸۰% of patients over ۵۵ years. Therefore, with the spread of COVID-۱۹ Pandemic and risk of disease, researchers have sought to determine and compare the impact of COVID-۱۹ disease on balance, knee pain and instability, function, and quality of life in two groups of women with osteoarthritis (with and without COVID-۱۹).In this case-control study, ۸۰ female patients with knee osteoarthritis(KOA) were evaluated based on the Fitzgard scale. Finally, ۴۲ eligible patients were invited to study for further evaluation. The variables of balance with Biodex, pain with VAS, physical function with WOMAC and quality of life of SF۳۶ were evaluated at pre and posttest for two groups (KOA + CO۱۹, N= ۲۰, Age: ۵۶.۳۰ ± ۶.۶۴, height: ۱۵۷.۹۵ ± ۸.۱۴, BMIpre: ۳۳.۴۴ ± ۳.۰۲ and KOA, N= ۲۲, age: ۵۲.۸۶ ± ۹.۷۱, height: ۱۵۹.۳۵ ± ۶.۴۱, BMIpre: ۳۱.۶۰ ± ۲.۶۲) to determine any differences due to COVID ۱۹ disease.The results of the study showed that after COVID-۱۹ disease ۱۹, there was a significant difference in these factors between two groups: the amount of pain (PVAS= ۰.۰۴, t۴۰ = ۱۱.۲, CI= ۰.۰۲ to ۱.۰۴), BMI (PBMI=۰.۰۴, t۴۰= ۰.۰۹, CI= ۰.۰۷ to ۳.۵۹, PBMI), dynamic balance (POA= ۰.۰۳, t۴۰=۰.۵۲, CI= ۰.۳۹ to ۱.۵۳), anterior posterior dynamic balance with close eyes (PAP= ۰.۰۴, t۴۰= ۰.۵۹, CI= ۰.۰۲۴ to ۱.۰۴) and medial-lateral dynamic balance with close-eyes (PML= ۰.۰۰۲, t۴۰= ۰.۰۰۸, CI= ۰.۲۹ to ۱.۲۵,), Performance index (PWOMAC= ۰.۰۰۰۱, t۴۰= ۰.۳۸, CI= -۶.۲۶ to -۱.۹۱), quality of life (PSF۳۶= ۰.۰۰۰۱, t۴۰= ۰.۱, CI= -۶ .۲۸ to -۲) and KI (PKI= ۰.۰۲, t۴۰= ۰.۶۲, CI= -۰.۹۲ to -۰.۰۸).According to the findings of the study, it can be COVID-۱۹ disease due to disruption of the body system and increased pain leads to immobility and rest, lack of effective physical activity on the nature of the disease degenerative osteoarthritis is effective and increases the instability, reduces the balance and performance and quality of life for the patient.
