Comparison of premenstrual syndrome outbreak, life quality and sleeping quality between yoga athletic women and their inactive peers

The aim of this study was to compare the prevalence of premenstrual syndrome, quality of life and quality of sleep in women yoga athletes with non athlete counterparts. The statistical population of this study were girls and women athletes who practiced yoga continuously for at least ۱ year and non-athletes who did not have any continuous sports activities in the past year were in Karaj city, of which ۱۲۰ were as a statistical sample. They were selected randomly, purposefully and based on inclusion criteria That Yoga group with an average height of ۱۶۷.۱۲ ± ۶.۱۳, weight ۷۲.۱۹ ± ۲.۷۴ and age ۲۹.۱۷ ± ۱.۲۳ and non-athlete with an average height of ۱۶۶.۳۸ ± ۷.۵۴, weight ۷۴.۳۳ ± ۲.۳۸ and age ۳۱.۴۶ ± ۱.۵۸ Were. In a briefing session, they were introduced to the research, its purpose, their role in the research, and other related issues. After filling out the informed consent form and personal information form, the premenstrual syndrome symptom screening questionnaire, the quality of life questionnaire and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Questionnaire were provided to individuals. After completing three questionnaires by female yoga athletes, these three questionnaires were given to ۶۰ women who are in the non-athlete group and consist of a group of inactive counterparts. And by examining the results obtained from the questionnaires between the two groups of female yoga athletes and inactive counterparts, the predictor variables in this study were the prevalence of premenstrual syndrome, quality of life and quality of sleep. After statistical analysis and using the Human Whitney test for intergroup comparison, at the level of alpha five percent of the research hypotheses were tested using statistical software version ۲۱ and the following results were obtained: There is a significant difference between the symptoms of premenstrual syndrome between female yoga athletes and their non-athlete counterparts. There is a significant difference between the quality of life between female yoga athletes and female non-athlete counterparts. Also, there is significant difference between sleep quality between female yoga athletes and female non-athlete counterparts.
