Evaluation of resting levels of inflammatory indices, oxidative stress, aerobic and anaerobic power of players during beach soccer Premier League season

Beach soccer as a new, exciting and popular sport is spreading rapidly around the world. However, so far, limited, accurate and documented information is available about the physical and physiological needs of the players. The purpose of this study is to investigate the changes in the inflammatory, muscle damage, antioxidant and aerobic and anaerobic capacity of beach soccer players in the pre-season, mid-season and end of the Premier League season.In this quasi-experimental study with repeated measures design, ۱۳ elite beach soccer players (age ۲۴.۶۴ ± ۴.۰۱, weight ۷۵.۰۸ ± ۸.۱۵, height ۱۸۱.۰۰ ± ۵.۱۷, body mass index ۲۲.۷۶ ± ۲.۳۶ and VO۲max ۳۸.۶۰ ±۵.۴۸ were selected as subjects. Measurements of aerobic and anaerobic power, inflammatory (ALT, AST, CPK and LDH) and antioxidants (TAC, SOD, GPX and MDA) indices were repeated in the pre-season, mid-season and end of the season. repeated-measures analysis of variance was used to examine the change.Significant increase in SOD (p = ۰.۰۰۱), GPX (p = ۰.۰۰۱), ALT (p = ۰.۰۴۳) and significant decrease in TAC (p = ۰.۰۲۱) and anaerobic power (p = ۰.۰۰۱) was observed from pre-season to the end of the season. LDH levels showed a significant increase in the mid-season compared to the pre-season (p = ۰.۰۴۲) and a significant decrease at the end of the season compared to the mid-season (p = ۰.۰۱۴). However, no significant changes were observed in MDA (p = ۰.۱۹۲), AST (p = ۰.۵۰۰), CPK (p = ۰.۱۵۱) and aerobic power (p = ۰.۱۱۷) during the competition season.According to the results of the present study, it is suggested that athletes be evaluated continuously during the competition season in terms of hormonal, inflammatory, oxidative and functional indicators in order to be able to provide the best training, nutrition and recovery systems for athletes planned.
