چکیده مقاله:

Sarcopenia and decreased muscle strength due to the aging process can lead to disorders of the neuromuscular system, falls and decreased function in daily activities and independence in the elderly. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of eight weeks of TRX suspended functional training on lower limb muscle strength, balance, mobility, and fear of falling in older men.The present study was quasi-experimental. Thirty elderly people with a mean age of ۶۷.۹±۴.۳ years participated in this study voluntarily and were randomly divided into two groups of TRX training (n = ۱۶) and control group (n = ۱۴). After selecting the subjects, in the pre-test session, lower limb strength with ۳۰ second chair stand test (۳۰CST), functional balance through Berg Balance Scale (BBS), Functional mobility rate with Timed Up and Go (TUG), and fear of falling using Falls Efficacy Scale International (FES-I) was measured. Then, the experimental group performed functional exercises through TRX for eight weeks, three sessions per week and each session for about one hour. After performing the exercises, post-test was performed from two groups. To compare the groups, covariance test and Bonferroni post hoc test were used using SPSS software version ۱۹ and the significance level was p = ۰.۰۵.The results showed that TRX functional training significantly improved lower limb strength, balance and functional mobility in the elderly (p≤۰.۰۰۱). TRX functional training had no significant effect on the fear of falling in the elderly (p>۰.۰۵).Considering the positive effect of TRX functional training on the components of lower limb strength, functional and mobility balance, it seems that suspended exercise method is effective in improving lower limb muscle strength, functional balance and mobility in the elderly.
