چکیده مقاله:

The purpose of this study was to examine the long-term effects of β-ALA supplementation with and without creatine monohydrate on anaerobic and aerobic exercise performance in Taekwondo semi-professionally players.Forty-one males were randomized in a double-blind, placebo-controlled manner into one of four supplementation groups: β-ALA only (n=۱۰), creatine only (n=۱۰), β-ALA and creatine combined (n=۹) and placebo (n=۱۲). Participants were supplemented for ۸ weeks included a loading phase for the creatine for the first two weeks of ۰.۳ g/kg of body weight and a maintenance phase for next weeks of ۰.۱ g/kg of body weight, with or without a continuous dose of β-ALA of ۰.۱ g/kg of body weight with doses rounded to the nearest ۸۰۰ mg capsule providing an average of ۶.۱±۰.۷ g/day of β-ALA. Participants reported for testing at baseline, and day ۶۰. Testing sessions consisted of performing a graded exercise test on the cycle ergometer for VO۲max with lactate threshold determination, and multiple Wingate anaerobic capacity tests.Although mean changes were consistent with prior studies and large effect sizes were noted, no significant differences were observed among groups in the amount of lactate after warming up (P=۰.۱) and Similarly five minutes after the test (P=۰.۱۷), while the amount of lactate had a significant decrease in time of ۳ minutes after the test (P=۰.۰۲). No statistically significant effects were observed among groups in fatigue Index (P=۰.۲۷), meanwhile the amount of peak power didn’t have a significant change between groups (P=۰.۴۱). Finally, VO۲max measurement didn’t show any significant change (P=۰.۸۵).Results of the present study did not show any consistent additive benefits of β-ALA and creatine monohydrate supplementation in Taekwondo athletes
