Construction of a GPRS based controller module forenhancement of switch-disconnectors to auto sectionalisers

As an inseparable part of electric power system,electric distribution systems play an important role in connectingelectric power generation and the consumers. Concurrent withadvent of smart grids in electric power system, electric distributionnetworks as a main part of this grid must be modified. The processof transferring the present electric distribution systems to a moredeveloped distribution networks has been accelerated. As a meansof this development, novel methods of design and construction ofthe controlling modules can be used with the existing equipments inthe electric distribution networks. Self-healing network as an aimof the planning of smart grids can be achieved using the newcontroller units in addition to existing network. In this paper, afterbriefly introducing the smart grids, the design and construction of aGPRS based controller module for enhancing the existingmotorized switch-disconnectors in Zanjan electric distributioncompany (ZEDCO) to using as remotely controlled autosectionalisers is described. Using these modules in addition toexisting motorized switch-disconnectors leads to self-healingdistribution network with very low expenditure.
