Background: This study aimed to analyze the demographic and epidemiological features ofidentified COVID-۱۹ cases in Kazakhstan.Study design: A cross-sectional study.Methods: This cross-sectional study aimed to analyze COVID-۱۹ cases (n=۵۱۱۶) collected fromMarch ۱۳ to June ۶, ۲۰۲۰, in Kazakhstan. The data were obtained from a state official medicalelectronic database. The study investigated the geographic and demographic data of patients aswell as the association of COVID-۱۹ cases with gender and age. The prevalence of symptoms, thepresence of comorbidities, complications, and COVID-۱۹ mortality were determined for all patients.Results: The mean ±SD age of the patients in this study was ۳۴.۸ ±۱۷.۶ years, and the majority(۵۵.۷%) of COVID-۱۹ cases were male and residents of cities (۷۹.۶%). In total, ۸۰% of the caseshad the asymptomatic/mild form of the disease. Cough (۲۰.۸ %) and sore throat (۱۷.۱%) were themost common symptoms among patients, and pneumonia was diagnosed in ۱ out of ۵ cases. Acuterespiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) was recorded in ۱.۲% of the patients. The fatality rate was۱% in the study population and lethality was ۲.۶ times higher in males compared to females. Eachadditional year in age increased the probability of COVID-۱۹ infection by ۱.۰۶ times. The presenceof cardiovascular, diabetes, respiratory, and kidney diseases affected the rate of mortality (P<۰.۰۵).Conclusions: The results demonstrated a high proportion (۴۰%) of the asymptomatic type ofcoronavirus infection in the Kazakhstan population. The severity of COVID-۱۹ symptoms andlethality were directly related to the age of patients and the presence of comorbidities.
