Assessment of the knowledge high School Girls on breast self-examination

Introduction and aims: Breast cancer is the most common cancer and the second leading cause of cancer death among women, accounting for ۱۹% mortality from cancers. Breast cancer screening behaviors, is the important factor to these Treatments. This study was to assess the high school girlʼs students level of knowledge about symptoms of breast cancer and breast self-examination.Materials and Method: This study was descriptive (cross-sectional) analysis that done on Imam-Reza high school girl student’s (۱۶-۲۰ years) of Gerash city. A total of ۵۳ girl students, were available for sampling. The data were collected through a valid and reliable questionnaire and analyzed through SPSS, version ۱۱.۵. The Participation in present research was voluntary and with informed consent.Results: According to the results, the median knowledge score of these students was ۵۸.۲. Knowledge based on individual characteristics was significantly related to the Parental Health Knowledge and Preventive Behavior, and school courses. Social network's education Conclusion: According to finding of this study, the girl student’s knowledge about the mentioned variables was at a moderate level, while the raising knowledge and their sensitivity to do regular and proper breast self-examination are very important. Then we must plan for health education and health promotion screening interventions to reduce the time of breast cancer diagnosis and increase the chances of success in treatment.
