چکیده مقاله:
In this paper, the role of individual backgrounds in the amount of fear and anxiety in educational environments was investigated. The goal was to reveal if personal backgrounds make any differences in responding to environmental factors. For this matter, a researcher-made questionnaire was distributed among ۳۸۰ male and female students of the fourth-grade elementary school in Iran, Rasht. After collecting the data, independent samples T-tests were used to investigate the relationship between the individual background of the subjects and their responses to environmental factors in their classroom. The results showed that there are some differences between groups in the matter of their responses to environmental factors based on their backgrounds. The differences were mainly shown in the amount of fear of darkness and loud noises, comfortability with light colors such as blue and green, getting annoyed by cold and heat in the classroom environment, interest in adventure, and safe and secret areas in the school. So, individual backgrounds make difference in how children respond to the environmental factors that are mentioned previously. Therefore, it is important to take notice of emotional and psychological state of children in designing a space for them.
