Utilization of micro-devices in separation processes due to their simplicity, superior efficiency, andease of scale-up have been noticed in recent years. Even though, stability of flow pattern in themicrochannels has a significant effect on the separation efficiency. Experimental and numerical studywas carried out to characterize the flow pattern of extractive desulfurization of diesel fuel andDimethylformamide (DMF) in a circular microchannel with inner diameter of ۰.۷۹ mm. The volume offluid (VOF) method was employed to computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations and thenumerical results were validated with experimental data. The results showed that the flow pattern oftwo-phase flow in microchannel depends upon fluid flow rate and contact angle.
