Fast-growing lipid-producing microalgae are categorized as an ideal feedstock for biodiesel production. In this study, direct transesterification of Nannochloropsis sp. under ultrasonic waves was investigated. The response surface methodology was used to analyze and optimize the operating parameters of the process statistically. A central composite design was used to study the effect of different design parameters such as the ratio of methanol to dry microalgae, catalyst concertation, time, and temperature on biodiesel yield. A maximum biodiesel yield of ۹۰.۵۱% was achieved with methanol to dry algae ratio of ۱۰.۸۵mL/gr, H۲SO۴ concentration of ۲.۷۴%, the reaction time of ۷۴.۸۵ minutes, and temperature of ۵۷.۲۷°C.
