Temporal variation of erosive susceptibility in the south of Minas Gerais, Brazil

Currently, water erosion is one of the main problems that affect soils and is influenced by several parameters, including land use and occupation, slope and soil classes. Many studies on erosion are made using the combination of these variables through Geoprocessing and Remote Sensing techniques. In this study, multicriteria analysis was used to identify susceptibility to water erosion in the Boa Esperança Municipality, located in the south of the of Minas Gerais State. For this, the land use and occupation parameters, slope and soil classes were combined during the years ۱۹۹۰, ۲۰۰۰, ۲۰۱۰ and ۲۰۲۰. The research results showed that the study area has a medium susceptibility to water erosion in most of the territory and that ۲۰۲۰ had the highest rates of erosive susceptibility. From the analyzes developed and results obtained, the contribution of multicriteria analysis to this type of study and the usefulness of the map of susceptibility to water erosion for sustainable agricultural and environmental planning is evidenced.
