The role of exports in productivity and economic growth (Review)

Export-based growth, as an alternative to introverted policies, has gained much traction over the past three decades. Of course, the theory that foreign trade has positive effects on the productivity of factors of production and economic growth is not new. Proponents of export development strategies have long argued that the externalities of export sectors increase productivity growth throughout the economye. This article reviews growth, productivity, and the export-oriented economy.
