Global warming and climate change are serious issues, creating many complications over recent decades. The pace of glaciers melting has accelerated and led to elevate the seawater level. Consequently, coastal zones are more exposed to the threat of destructive storm surges, frequent floods, submergence and coastal erosion. Furthermore, the world population is dramatically growing and demand for housing in urban areas is significantly increasing. Most megacities are located in the coastal zones and they face land scarcity, lack of development areas as well as the crisis of population growth. The importance of the sea, as a new resource for urban developments, has become moreevident since there is no adequate land in coastal regions to be developed. An innovative solution to survive from these hazards is to construct cities on the seawater and relocate human societies from land to sea. This article proposes a new concept of the floating city, designed by utilizing of Very Large Floating Structures (VLFS) technology. It is an innovative and sustainable model for the future cities that makes the seas a habitable place. For humans. This floating city is comprised of seven hexagonal-shaped semisubmersible platforms, which moves, connects and disconnects when it is required.
