چکیده مقاله:

Written Corrective Feedback (WCF) is a response from a teacher to the students’ errors to improve accuracy in students’ written products. Teachers who use WCF may adopt a specific perspective, namely Second Language Acquisition (SLA) or L۲ writing approach. Based on their perspectives, teachers may apply different theories about CF. Two common theories are called the cognitive theory that focuses on the way students process the given feedback in their mind, and sociocultural theory, which believes that the teacher scaffolds knowledge by providing CF. Another important point is using technology for providing CF, especially after the spread of the Corona Virus for students who are away from schools. In this situation, teachers can access the students’ written products easily and provide the most appropriate type of feedback. Considering these points, this paper introduces some essential points related to the writing skill and the nature of the error. Then, different aspects of CF are expressed, and finally, the advantages of using technology for providing feedback are described. EFL teachers can use these points to reduce their workload, and actively engage students with the given feedback. Moreover, teacher educators should consider these points to inform teachers about the way they should provide feedback.
