چکیده مقاله:

Abstract In this paper, the effect of changes in rotor slot opening width on the performance of a squirrel cage induction motor is evaluated. Induction motors have a simple structure and therefore have a strong presence in industry. Various algorithms have been proposed to design these motors, most of which are based on analytical equations. The analytical relationships used in these algorithms do not provide accurate results on leakage fluxes, the effects of magnetic saturation, and so on. Therefore, designers have used finite element methods to achieve proper accuracy. The main disadvantage of finite element methods is that they take so long that it is sometimes impossible to use them in design algorithms with optimization. Therefore, it is necessary to provide experimental rules for designers, to achieve acceptable results in a very short time by considering them in analytical design algorithms. In this paper, by changing the width of the rotor slot opening from fully closed to fully open, the motor performance is evaluated and the results are presented for use in design algorithms.
