A Comparative Analysis of Ernest Miller Hemingway’s The Sun Also Rises and Esmail Fassih’s Sorraya in a Coma in the light of the “Lost Generation” theme

The aim of this comparative literature study is to investigate two major instances of stories in the light of the theme “Lost Generation”. The focus of this study is to analyze the similar theme of “The Sun Also Rises” by Ernest Miller Hemingway, and “Sorraya in a Coma” by Esmail Fassih.While The Sun Also Rises, is one of the greatest examples of “Lost Generation” in American Literature, the story of Sorraya in a Coma is one of the most significant expressions of this theme in the Persian Contemporary Literature. Both of these authors had experienced the feelings of war, and both have felt the post-war atmosphere right after the war, thus their writing had been influenced by warfare.War in both these novels is the compelling reason for many events which in turn environ the characters comprising the “lost generation.”Despite the fact that these literary works were written at different settings, they both address the similarities in the stories and themes.
