The study of characterization of "The Pearl"By Nathanial Hawthorns Scarlet Letter

The present study is a comprehensive approach of characterization of The Pearl in Nathaniel Hawthorn’s Scarlet Letter. Nathaniel Hawthorn’s is a famous Romantic Novelist, Short Story Writer in ۱۹th Century in America (۱۸۰۴-۱۸۶۴). The Pearl has strong and unpredictable personality and Hester worries that pearl will be taken from her. Another characteristic of The Pearl that is very illegitimate daughter and she turns every situation into her advantage. She decides to live with nature and animal because these are the only things that show her acceptance. The novel tells a story of Hester Prynne who gives birth to a daughter having committed adultery. Pearl also function as a constant reminder the personification of that adulterous act. She is the living symbol of Hester’s Sin and grows up fascinated by her Mothers Scart A. Pearl is not mean to be a realistic character, Rather, she is as a complicated person symbolizes the sins of both Hester and Dimmesdale. She also represents the sin of lying to the society about the affair that led to the birth of pearl.
