چکیده مقاله:
This paper reviews some of the concepts of sustainability for desalination water supply projects and the importance of developing an Active Leakage Control (ALC) measures that meets the current water needs of a population while looking forward to the needs of future generations. Sustainable Desalination(SD) is at the forefront of research into developing clean water technologies. The study results reveal that conventional ALC can economically reduce the needs for new water desalination projects in arid and semi-arid countries like Iran, Bushehr province. In countries like Iran where water prices and tariffs are so low due to governmental subsidy, the necessity of water loss reduction is economically more important. This study reveals the results of long term ALC contract in Bushehr on saving desalinated water. The paper concludes with a cost analysis of the whole project.
