چکیده مقاله:
Photosynthetic Sediment Microbial Fuel Cell (PSMFS) is a special type of microbial fuel cell (MFC) in which sediments and microalgae are used in anodes and cathodes, respectively. Since photosynthesis occurs in the cathode by microalgae then oxygen is produced, PSMFC systems do not require aeration. There are a number of limitations in this systems, including the low overall performance in terms of voltage generation, high production costs, and large-scale production. Therefore, many efforts have been made in this field to increase the efficiency of PSMFCs. In this study, two factors including the initial cell density of Chlorella sp. as well as the intensity of light emitted to the algae at the cathode were investigated. ODs of ۰.۱, ۰.۴, and ۰.۷ and light intensities of ۱۲۰۰۰ lux, ۱۶۰۰۰ lux, and ۲۰۰۰۰ lux were applied. The PSMFC with a light intensity of ۱۶۰۰۰ lux and OD=۰.۴ which contained center point performed better compared with other PSMFCs and produced the output voltage of ۲۴۴-۵ mV during ۸ days.
