Synthesis, Modification and Application of Carbon N anofiber s for Removal o f Lead from Aqueo us Solution

Carbon nanostructure shows exceptional adsorption capability which is signifi cantly influenced by th e pH of the solution and the na nostructure surface sta tus. This c an becontrolled by the treatment processing of the nan ostructure. In the prese nt paper, a new struct ure of carbon nanofibers was synthesized and modified with mixture of nitric acid and sulfuric acid to enhance their cation adsorption capacity. The pre sence of functional groups on the c arbon nanofibers was assessed. The modifie d carbon nanofiber w as then used for adsorp tion of Pb۲+ from aqueo us solutions .At the optimized conditions, ۲۱۱ m g.g-۱ of Pb۲+ was adsorb ed.
