چکیده مقاله:
Most of the dyes are resistant to be decoloriz ed by chemicals, heat, and light due to their co mplex chemical structures. Therefore, the biodegr adation of dyes is a t ypically slow and und esired process. There are several methods available for color removal from waters and wastewaters such as mem brane separation, aerob ic and anaerobic degradation using various microorgan isms, chemical oxidation, coagulation and flocculation, and reverse osmosis. This study invest igates the pote ntial use of activated carbon prepared from th e astragalus bisulcatus for the re moval Bromo phenol blue dye from simulated wastewater. T he effects o f different system variables, adsorbent dosage, initial dye concentration, pH, sieve size of adso rbent and contact time were investigated and optimal experi mental cond itions were ascertained. Bromo phenol blue co ntents and its re moval percentage were determined using a UV -Vis spectrophotomete r before and after adsorption. The results showed t hat as the amount of the adsorbent increased, the percentage of dye remo val increas ed accordin gly. The adsorption data at equilibrium was ev aluated and fitted by different isotherm models li ke Langmuir, Freundlich and Tem pkin to evaluate the ongoing adsorption process [۱ -۳].
