Among the organic c ompounds, catechols a nd catechola mines can b e easily oxi dized chemically or electrochemically to the corresponding reactive o-quinones. It is worth mentioning that catechols are used in a variety o f applications includin g photography, dying, rubber and plastic productio n and pharmaceutical industry [۱]. In addition , catechol d erivatives p lay an imp ortant role in m ammalian metabolism, and many compounds of this type are known to be secondary metabolites of highe r plants. Aro matic vic-diols are catechol derivatives in whi ch ۳ or ۴ position is unsubs tituted and these positi ons are sterically blocke d. These de rivatives are drugs and now,are wide ly used in the treatm ent of bo rnchail asth ma, hypertension, Parkinson’s disease myocardial infarction and cardia c surgery.
