Thermodynamic and Kinetics inves tigation of adsorpti on of anionic surfactant sodium d odecyl sulfate using spent tea leaves

Many in dustrial efflu ents such as wastewater from cosmetic and det ergent industries, laundry and car washing service s contain mixtures of surfactants. They create much hazardous healt h like dermatitis and harmful for the aquatic flor a and fauna [۱]. So, the water trea tment process is necessar y in order to remove surfactant from industrial and domestic wastes to redu ce its concentr ation. In this study, two types of spent tea leaves were used for adsorption of so dium dodecyl s ulfate (SDS) from aqueous solutions. Materials and methods:Spent G reen and black tea leaves (SGTL, SBTL) we re employed as green nonconventional adsorbents for remov al of SDS from aqueous solutions. Adsorption experiments were carrie d out using batch system and the various empirical parameters such as adsorbent dose, initial SDS concentr ation, conta ct time and temperature were studie d. Unadsor bed SDS me asurements were carried out spectrophotometrically [۲].
