چکیده مقاله:

Copper is an important element in biolo gical system s. It is an essential micronutrient present in at least thirty enzymes. O n the other hand, it is toxic above a certain concentrati on. The World Health Organization ( WHO) and the Europe an Water Quality Directive recommends that the concentration in drinking water does not to exceed ۲ mg/l[۱]. Ordinary electroc hemical s olid electrodes have been developed for copper determination, such as modifie d carbon paste electrodes[۲], m odified co nducting c opolymer electrodes[۳], self- assembled monolayer modified gold electrodes[۴]. But th e detection limits o f those chemically modified electrodes were not low enoug h to detect trace level of copper in water samples[۵]. Deferiprone is a s mall neutra l water-soluble molecule with a molecular w eight of ۱۳۹ Da, that has a high affi nity for iron ions, but also copp er can form strong complexes with[۶, ۷]. On the basis of our knowledge, there isn’t any report re garding the use of deferiprone in the electroanalysis of cop per. Becau se, new alternative electrodes are highly desired to meet the growing deman ds of determination of copper in environmental monitoring and w ater research, the goal of this stu dy was to d evelop a chemically modified carbon paste electrode with d eferiprone to determin e copper in water samples.
