چکیده مقاله:
Schiff base was first reported by Hugo Schiff in ۱۸۶۴ [۱]. Schiff bas es can be prepared b y conden sing carbonyl compou nds and amines in diffe rent conditions and in different s olvents wit h the eli mination of water molecules. Schiff bases have been playing an important part in th e development of coordinatio n chemistry. Schiff base metal complex es have b een studie d extensi vely because of their a ttractive c hemical and physical properties and their wide range of applications in nu merous scientific are as. These types of c omplexes have been vigorousl y explored in recent years and such studies have been the subject of man y papers and reviews. Many of them are centered on the catalytic activity o f Schiff base complexes in a large number of homoge neous and heterogeneous reactions. It is difficult to cov er in this chapter the literature o n Schiff b ase metal c omplexes, which embraces very wide and diversified s ubjects comprising vast areas of organomet allic comp ounds and v arious aspe cts of bioin organic chemistry. Salen t ype complexes are a fundamental class of compounds in coordination chemistry, know n since ۱ ۹۳۳[۲]. Th ey have be en extensively studied and more than ۲۵۰۰ have been synthesize d [۳]. Th e argument of this stud y is the synthesis and characteriz ation of metal comple xes and th e study of their interaction with native deoxyribonucl eic acid (D NA). It is in fact known that DNA is a major target of anticanc er drugs and that the most comm on clinically used metallo-base d antican cer-drugs are today platinum compounds able to covalentl y bind to the DNA macrom olecule [۴].
