The mutual relationship between H-bonding and cation…π in teractions in cation:(G...C) co mplexes

Nonco valent interactions, such as cation-π and H- bond interac tions are shown to play an essential role in t he structure of DNA and proteins, a s well as in their interactions with small molecules [۱]. H ow two important non-covalent interactions involving aromatic rings mutually influences each oth er is a question in understanding molecular agg regation and is a topic of wide ran ging interest [۲]. In this work, the mutual relationship betw een cation-ʌ and H-bonding intera ctions in cation:(G...C) complexes (see Fig.۱; ... and : are used for t he H-bond and cation-π interactions , respectively) has been considered.
