چکیده مقاله:

Dyes are an important class of pollutants w hich could be used in many industrial activities such as textile, dyestuffs, printing and some other ind ustries as im portant materials. These materials may be harmful to aquatic creatures and hum ans because many dyes are non-bio degradab le, toxic, an d stable to light and h eat[۱,۲].Therefore, the e ffective re moval of dyes from aqu eous syste ms becomes environmen tally important. To date, a number of chemica l, physical, and biological methods have been developed for removin g dyes fro m wastewate r. Among them, adsor ption techni que is belie ved to be o ne of the m ost effective and simplest processes, and various adsorbents have bee n tested to remove dyes from water. This has le d to the search for more efficient and cheaper alternate a dsorbents[۳]. Researches showed that the walnut shell was effective a nd low-cost adsorbent for removing of aqueous dyes. In this research, the walnut shell was used as adsorbent for re moving Basic Violet ۲ from aqueo us solutions. The effect of different experimen tal parameters such as initial dye concentration, amount of adsorben t, temperature and pH on the efficiency of adsorption process has bee n investigated.
