A Study of Kevin Andrew Lynch Theories on Urban Design of District ۱۲ of Tehran, Iran

This paper analyzed District ۱۲ of Tehran, capital of Iran with more than two hundred years of historic background as a case study with theories of Kevin Lynch, conducted from research and personal visit to realize how urban design theories could be recognized in the urban space and to analyze the functionality, character and qualification of District ۱۲ of Tehran based on an analytic perspective from Kevin Lynches viewpoints. This research applies the qualitative method to study and survey the existing urban elements and spatial performance elements in District ۱۲ of Tehran mental mapping and good city quality analysis.The aim of the study is to analyze the urban design and spatial performance elements to achieve an analytical perspective from the quality of urban design and spatial performance in an area which grow and developed over the time process. The study concludes that urban design and spatial performance elements are recognized and grow in the process of historical development and also the theoretical relationship between Kevin Lynches theories in the case study.
