In this article cooling and ventilating performance of an innovative passive cooling system is investigated. This system consists of a vertical cylindrical solar chimney with vertical attached fins to the solar chimney and an earth-air heat exchanger to work as an alternative HVAC system during the summer in a hot and arid climate (Yazd, Iran). In this study, the RNG K-ε turbulence model was utilized to simulate the internal fluid flow. The effect of water injection on flow rate and internal air temperature is studied a realized that adding water injection helps to reduce the earth to air heat exchanger’s pipes’ length. Moreover, this reduction helps the developers to decrease construction costs. The best performance of the system without water injection for the hottest day of the year reached ۱۴:۰۰ when the indoor temperature was ۲۹۵.۳۵۶ K, SC and EAHE outlet temperature was ۳۰۸.۱۸ and ۲۸۸.۸۸ K, respectively. This system satisfied the ventilation requirements for laboratories and residential sectors. By utilizing water injection, the system reached this thermal situation with a shorter heat exchanger
