چکیده مقاله:

Eye is one of the most important organs body. The inability of the eye to focus on nearby objects, presbyopia, is suffered by almost all of people above ۵۵ years old. This disease is now very common cause of an increasing technology usage. There are several treatments for this disease but except the femto-lasik surgery all others are temporary solution. However, there are some significant syndromes for patients after doing this surgery such as having photophobia. Liquid crystals are materials which can flow like liquid but they have an organized molecular arrangements like solids. Nematic liquid crystals (LC) contact lenses have shown great potential for correcting presbyopia. Due to the optical and anisotropic properties of nematic liquid crystals and the dipole moment of its molecules, its power and focal length can be adjusted. For this purpose, these liquid crystals have recently been used to reduce the prevalence of presbyopia by making medical contact and non-contact lenses. In the present study, a liquid crystal contact lens will be made of ۵CB, the membrane of which is made of polyethylene terephthalate coated with indium tin oxide, the molecules of which will be arranged by spin-coating. The maximum power of this liquid crystal lens will be estimated with helium-neon rays. The focal power of this prototype liquid crystal contact lens is able to change up to +۲ diopters.
