Toxoplasmosis in cats and the study of its transmission to humans

Toxoplasmosis is a parasitic disease of humans which is caused by Toxoplasma gondii. Its definitive host are cats and oocysts of the parasite through excretion and infects the people in two ways: One is that the parasite’s oocytes enter our body directly, and the other is the consumption of undercooked meat and products contaminated withToxoplasma gondii, The latter is almost common in cats. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the ways of transmission of Toxoplasma gondii from cats to humans. Forthis, in May and June of ۲۰۱۸, by studies conducted on ۴۳ cats referred to a pet clinic in Tehran, approximately ۷ cats (۱۶%) had antitoxoplasmosis IgG, Almost ۸۲% of them had a negative result, two percent cut off point and one in seven patients had antibodies to Toxoplasma stool containing parasitic oocysts and mild clinical signs indicating a significant relationship between age and IgG-positive serum. As a result, since most infected cats don’t show clinical signs, cat owners should follow all health protocols.
