ZONATION AND REGIONAL PLANNING FOR DISASTER MITIGATION

There has been an increasing trend of disasters in Macedonia over the couple of years_ The main factors responsible for disasters in our country are earthquakes, fires, floods, social problems, displaced persons, industrial hazards, ecological hazards e.t.c. Development of an appropriate methodology for mitigation disasters in Macedonia is a complex task because of the high pressure from the political and economical point of view. In spite of this we define the framework for disasters mitigation into these aspects. • monitoring technique for risk assessment that may occur. • dissemination information to the general public for the planning and decision-making on the response to these risk. • developing preventive measures and its implementation of the plans and decisions at adequate field. These three important activities does not just happen but is achieved by hard work with governmental and non-governmental organizations striving to reduce loss of life and property caused by natural disasters
