The velocities of the seismic waves propagating in the .seven-story reinforce concrete building (located in Los Angeles, California) were estimated from the acceleration responses recorded by sixteen channels located in the building. Standard methods for data processing, using cross-correlation functions and Fourier transforms were performed. It was possible to estimate the velocity of the seismic wave propagating vertically along the columns (-۱۰۰ rnisec) and horizontally along the floor slabs (-۲۰۰۰ misec). Comparing the results for different earthquakes, it was possible to notice a decrease in the velocities in the areas that were severely damaged during the Northridge ۱۹۹۴ California Earthquake
