SELECTION OF PIPING SYSTEMS SPECIFICATIONS FOR SEISMIC ACTIVE ZONES (GULF OF SUEZ), EGYPT

his paper discusses the seismotectonic activity and the seismically hazardous area in gypt, namely the Gulf of Suez. It gives guidelines and design specifications to pro-ect the piping structures, especially the welded flanges and fittings, against earth-make damage resulting from the dynamic parameters of the expected earthquakes. it ilso shows that some of the specified steels should be discarded from the types used or the design of piping systems in the Gulf of Suez area
