ON-LINE CONTROL OF LARGE CIVIL STRUCTURES

This paper presents the development and implementation of simple on-line method for stabilization and control of large civil structures, by using active and semi-active control systems. The control forces are generated by means, of externally applied pulses or impulses induced by collisions between an auxiliary mass and the primary structure. The utility of the proposed control strategies are examined by considering several example structures subjected to ground motion. The results of these numerical simulations have indicated the feasibility and the reliability of the control methods.
