In view of the past seismic damages the soil amplification is pointed out as a crucial factor. This paper is therefore concerned with the BEM-FEM hybrid analysis of the seismic ground motions due to the wave propagation through certainly topographical-shaped alluvium. The Green function to be used to evaluate wave scattering at the non-flat base of soil deposit is derived from the thin layered method for a layered halfspace. The accuracy is checked from the rigorous procedure. At the same time, the engineering interpretation of the results are made, clarifying the alluvium amplification in frequency domain which gives a very useful information regarding input motion to long extended structures over such soft soil deposits
