LIQUEFACTION POTENTIAL OF PULVERISED FUEL ASH

A correlation, based on the results of cyclic triaxial tests, is derived for assessing the liquefaction potential of pulverised fuel ash (PFA). The proposed correlation can be used to assess the liquefaction potential of PFA simply from the particle size distribution, thus precluding the need for triaxial testing. An example calculation is presented which demonstrates how the proposed correlation may be used.
