چکیده مقاله:

Concept of providing bay-wide storey-deep discrete wall panels bounded by boundary columns to resist lateral loads in tall buildings has been introduced. The vertical members namely panels and boundary columns have been idealized by variants of frame-shear element having ۸-DOF and ۷-DOF respectively including non-nodal DOF corresponding to shear flow along the edges. An attempt has been made to investigate dynamic behaviour of a ۹ storey R.C. frame-wall building through the use of a software developed to perform the ۲-D analysis of the building. Being a new mathematical model, it was decided to perform free vibration analysis on a ۳ bay ۹ storey perspex model. Very close agreement between the theoretical and experimental values proves the suitability of frame-shear element to idealize wall panels and boundary columns
