چکیده مقاله:

Background and Aim : Angiotensin (۱-۷) (Ang (۱-۷)) obtained from the function of angiotensin-converting enzyme ۲ (AEC۲) improve heart and lung function. Blockade of ACE۲ by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus ۲ (SARS-CoV-۲) in coronavirus disease ۲۰۱۹ (COVID-۱۹) decreases Ang (۱-۷). In this study, we investigated Ang (۱-۷) levels and disease severity in hospitalized COVID-۱۹ patients with and without cardiovascular diseases. Methods : To do so, the Ang (۱-۷) levels of hospitalized COVID-۱۹ patients with (۱۳۶) and without (۱۲۷) cardiovascular disease in Masih-Daneshvari Hospital, Tehran, Iran were measured by ELIZA kit. , the patients’ clinical symptoms, including intensive care unit (ICU) admission, the use of mechanical ventilation, oxygen need, fever, and gastrointestinal disorders were drawing out from the patient's medical record. Results : Results of our investigation showed a significant inverse relationship between the levels of Ang ۱-۷ and the severity of the disease. The severity of the disease in diabetes diseases was significantly more than without diabetes diseases. The levels of Ang ۱-۷ were significantly lower in diabetic patients than in non-diabetic patients. Conclusion : Ang (۱-۷) reduced the severity of COVID-۱۹ disease, both in patients with and without diabetes disease and this reduction of Ang (۱-۷) and increased disease severity is more in diabetic patients.
