چکیده مقاله:

The German cockroach, Blattella germanica (insecta: Blattodea : Blattellidae) (Linnaeus, ۱۷۶۷), which occurs widely in human buildings, is a small cockroach species. Controlling this cockroach' reproduction is very problematic. Sometimes it is impossible to prevent it by cockroach control pesticides are toxic environment to, too. Controlling these insects through ultrasonic pest control devices can be more efficient in pest controlling objectives and less dangerous for the environment. In this study, the repellent and lethal effect of ultrasonic waves on male and female German cockroaches were tested in vitro in a glass chamber at Esfahan Health Research Station under the supervision of the School of Health, Tehran University of Medical Sciences. The frequencies tested in this study ranged from ۲۰ to ۱۰۰ kHz with ۵ kHz steps. These frequencies were generated by a signal generator and the piezoelectric transmitter of these ultrasonic waves positioning in the chamber's center. It is revealed that more than the repellent effect reported in previous studies, adequate ultrasonic waves can have a considerable lethal effect on male and female German cockroaches, too. The operating frequencies investigated in this study can be used in Ultrasonic pest resellers to repel, injure, and kill the German cockroaches as essential pests endangering human health and his living environment.
