Beam Forming of Small-Size Microphone Arrays for Audio Applications

Multi-microphone array processing techniques and applications go together with the use of small-size arrays. As far as beamforming in array signal processing performs a type of spatial filtering, dimension of array is related to the frequency of the coming wave. Therefore, small-size arrays are not appropriate for audio signals. In this paper, we introduce a novel technique to use small-size arrays for audio signals. Besides, the problem of low efficiency beamforming due to dealing with wideband signals will be resolved. Constant directivity is another gift of using this technique.
