Applying native language in foreign language classroom resulted from one of the longstanding arguments in language learning process and the impact of the first language in the second language teaching is still being debated. Although some language teachers are in favor of using native language in the foreign language classroom, most of them are teaching English grammar by using the second language without any reference to the native language (Damra, ۲۰۱۲). The purpose of the present study is to evaluate the effectiveness of using elementary EFL learner’s native language on grammar achievement. Moreover, this research explored the students' attitudes towards using native language on teaching grammar process. To fulfill the aims of the study, the researcher adopted an experimental research design using the sample of ۶۰ students. The experimental group included ۳۰ students were taught by their native language (Persian), while ۳۰ students of the control group were taught grammar in English language. The quantitative data were collected through sample t-tests and a translated questionnaire. The findings revealed that the participants perceived the use of native language (Persian) as a supporting tool in their EFL classrooms and it was used to serve a number of purposes. Also, using native language helped the EFL learners to improve their grammar scores. It is expected that the results of the research indicate the importance of using native language in the languagelearning process.
