چکیده مقاله:

One of the main sources of water and energy loss in power plants located on seaside or near big rivers iscooling water returned from surface condensers to the sea or rivers. Therefore, it is necessary to recoverheat, and produce desalinated water, especially in the countries facing with water shortage. In this article,the effects of heat recovery from once through cooling systems on the efficiency of water desalinationprocesses were studied. For this purpose, a multi-stage flash (MSF) desalination system with the capacityof ۴۳۰۰۰ m۳/day was studied, and the effect of heat recovery from the cooling system, on exergyefficiency (as a performance criterion of the system) was investigated. Results demonstrated that theexergy efficiency of system increased from ۲.۹۱ to ۳.۵۷% when heat recovery from once through coolingsystem is used.
