Study of Caspian Seawater Alkalization as a Proposed Method Pretreatment of System RO

Pretreatment of raw water is one of the main factors for increasing the efficiency of RO system. Becausethe raw water system is seawater in most cases, also due to the hardness of seawater is about three timesthat of raw water. The chemical pretreatment methods for seawater can reduce sea water hardness that inthis research; the method of alkalization methods with NaOH, lime water and the mixture of lime waterand soda have been studied and the most efficient condition in using NaOH has been identified. Theresults of alkalization experiments with NaOH were simulated using PHREEQC software, according towhich the results of experiment were consistent with those of the simulation.
